Here is a brief history of the Goldspan Insurance Policy.
 The Goldspan Insurance Policy has been underwritten by a well known Lloyds Syndicate since 1992, this came about after John Lohan visited a Motorcycle Open Day at Colin Appleyards Motorcycles of Keighley, West Yorkshire.
At that time there was a negative opinion of the Motorcycle Insurance Industry which meant that Goldwing Owners had been tarnished with the same brush as Sports Motorcycle Riders. This meant that premiums were around £700 to insure a Goldwing at that time.
Such factors as: the average age of the rider, value of the motorcycle, security fitted and limited annual mileage were being ignored..
More importantly, the fact that Goldwing Riders are considered among the most responsible riders on the road had not been recognised.
These were the main reasons why Airevalley Insurance felt that the club should have its own specialist insurance scheme.
After researching the market for over 12 months, John then contacted his Lloyds Introducer; this led to a meeting between John, an Agency Manager and a chief Underwriter from a Leading Lloyds Syndicate.
The Scheduled 2 Hour Meeting ran for 2 Days!
Success! Finally John had convinced the Chief Underwriter that Goldwing Owners would look after their Insurance Scheme in the same way that they looked after their machines.
Eight months later the Goldspan Insurance Scheme was launched!
The Scheme was first advertised in the January 1992 issue of the Wingspan Magazine, and we are still regarded by many members in the club as the only Goldwing Insurance Specialist in the UK today!
