The Goldspan Insurance Policy has been underwritten by a well known Lloyds Syndicate since 1992 when John Lohan (partner) was visiting an Open Day at Colin Appleyards Motorcycles of Keighley, West Yorkshire.

There was a negative response, towards the Insurance Industry who had tarnished Goldwing Owners with the same Brush as Sports Motorcycle Riders, premiums were around £700 to Insure a Goldwing at this time.

The average age, value, security and limited milage were factors that had been ignored. The fact that Goldwing Riders are the most responsible riders on the road had also not been recognised.

To John these were the main reasons why the club should have its own specialist scheme.

After researching the market for over 12 months John then contacted his Lloyds Introducer, this led to a meeting between John, an Agency Manager and a chief Underwriter from a Leading Lloyds Syndicate. The Scheduled 2 Hour Meeting ran for 2 Days!.

Finally John had convinced the Chief Underwriter that Goldwing Owners would look after their Insurance Scheme in the same way that they looked after their machines. Eight Months later the GOLDSPAN INSURANCE SCHEME was launched!

The Scheme was first advertised in the January issue of the Wingspan Magazine 1992, we are still regarded by many member's in the club as the only Goldwing Insurance Specialist in the UK today!
